Recently, Kaishan Heavy Industry’s KT7C, KT25, and KT30 series integrated open-pit down-the-hole drilling rigs completed batch factory testing and commissioning. A total of 38 units were shipped in batches from the company’s headquarters in Quzhou, Zhejiang Province, to various core mining regions worldwide, including Johannesburg in South Africa, Jakarta in Indonesia, and Riyadh in Saudi Arabia. These rigs cover multiple application scenarios such as metal mines, non-metallic quarries, and open-pit coal mines. This marks Kaishan’s fifth batch of overseas orders for down-the-hole drilling rigs since 2026, demonstrating the strong competitiveness of Chinese mining equipment in the global market.
As core products of Kaishan’s deep expertise in the drilling field, these newly exported down-the-hole drilling rigs have undergone comprehensive upgrades in technology development, working condition adaptability, and ease of operation. They have been customized and optimized for the complex mining environments of different overseas regions, achieving core performance levels comparable to international advanced standards. The equipment is equipped with a Weichai WP6 series high-power diesel engine with a rated power of 162kW. It boasts strong power output and outstanding fuel economy, reducing fuel consumption by 12%-15% compared to traditional models, significantly lowering operating costs in overseas mines. It features a reinforced tracked chassis with low ground pressure and strong climbing ability, achieving a maximum climbing angle of 35°. This allows it to easily handle complex and harsh working conditions such as mountains, rocky wilderness, and open-pit mines with significant elevation differences. Even on muddy or gravelly surfaces, it can achieve stable movement and precise positioning.

In terms of drilling efficiency and precision, this series of down-the-hole drills is equipped with high-efficiency impactors and drill rods independently developed by Kaishan. Drilling diameters range from 89mm to 152mm, with a maximum drilling depth of 30m. Drilling speed is more than 20% faster than traditional models, and drilling verticality error is controlled within ±0.5°, effectively improving the efficiency and safety of subsequent blasting operations. The machine integrates an intelligent dust removal system using pulse dust removal technology, effectively filtering dust generated during drilling with a dust removal efficiency of over 95%, meeting global environmental standards and ensuring the occupational health of on-site operators. Simultaneously, the equipment is equipped with intelligent systems such as one-button start/stop, remote control, and fault warning. The user interface is simple and easy to understand, requiring no specialized technicians; ordinary workers can operate it after simple training, significantly reducing labor and training costs on overseas construction sites.
These batches of down-the-hole drills exported will primarily be used in key projects such as gold mining in South Africa, quarry expansion in Indonesia, and open-pit coal mine development in Saudi Arabia. Among them, 12 KT25 down-the-hole drill rigs shipped to South Africa will serve an open-pit mining project at a large gold mine there. The project manager stated, “After multiple rounds of comparative testing, the durability, drilling efficiency, and energy-saving effect of Kaishan’s down-the-hole drill rigs are superior to similar imported equipment, and the price is more competitive. We will continue to expand our cooperation with Kaishan.” Having cultivated the overseas mining equipment market for many years, Kaishan not only focuses on product technology upgrades but also has built a comprehensive overseas service system. Currently, Kaishan has established sales and service centers in more than 20 countries and regions worldwide, equipped with professional technical service teams and ample spare parts inventory. This enables Kaishan to respond to overseas customer orders within 24 hours, provide on-site repairs within 48 hours, and offer real-time remote technical guidance, effectively addressing the concerns of overseas customers. In the future, Kaishan will continue to focus on technological innovation in the mining drilling field, launching more customized products to meet the working conditions of different regions globally, further expanding its overseas market share, and promoting the “intelligent manufacturing” of Chinese mining equipment to the world.
